Connecting Your Community, One Wash at a Time

A custom-designed app for laundromat access and business management.

Challenge

The laundromat industry was ready for disruption. FasCard envisioned moving beyond coin slots and credit card readers to create a mobile app that would connect customers directly with laundry machines, and Beyond Design was here to help. Together, we designed an app that served two masters: providing efficiency and promotions to consumers while giving business owners valuable insights into user behavior and new ways to drive sales.

Process

Designers started by diving deep into laundromat demographics, discovering a diverse user base that traditional tech companies often overlook. This research became the foundation for helping the team understand and focus on end-users, including both the consumers and the store operators/owners.

The visual design required a careful balance between males and females who will be using this app. The design team’s market research led us to develop gender-neutral aesthetics using colors and graphics that would create excitement without alienating anyone. The interface prioritized clarity and intuitive navigation, ensuring users could effortlessly control machines, make payments, and access promotions. Behind the scenes, we architected a system that seamlessly collected data and communicated between customers, machines, and operators in real-time.

Impact

The app delivered on both fronts: customers gained the convenience of mobile notifications, easy promotions access, and streamlined payments, while operators received the data insights and communication tools they needed to grow their businesses. FasCard now had a smooth, intuitive, and captivating app to position itself as a leader in their industry.
