Comfort and control matter when it comes to paint removal. For Newell Rubbermaid, we designed a line of ergonomic handheld scrapers that make scraping and spreading paint more efficient and less exhausting. Each tool was shaped with user comfort in mind, featuring a soft, non-slip grip that supports extended use and provides precise control.

The product family included various one-handed scrapers for everyday projects, along with a heavy-duty two-handed version for more demanding tasks. We studied the hand placement, sizes, and grip patterns of different users to mold the design to be more ergonomic and comfortable to use.

The line introduced a clear “better” and “best” tier. The standard tools featured a durable single-mold handle, while the premium version used dual-injection molding with a TPE overmold for enhanced comfort, control, and aesthetic appeal. These thoughtful details improved functionality and also established a refined design language for the Newell Rubbermaid brand.
