Island Universe, Hestia Hardware Handles and Knobs

Beyond Design worked with Island Universe to create a new proprietary collection of decorative hardware for its Hestia Hardware line. The objective was to identify evolving style trends and provide insights from industry influencers like architects and interior designers. Design solutions needed to incorporate clean lines projecting a minimal design approach.

Market Analysis Through Interaction

By going directly into the marketplace, the design team was able to visit various retail establishments and document the existing product offerings while gaining insights into the changes occurring in the kitchen, bath, and office furnishing categories. Designers visited major retailers as well as niche design establishments to interview architects and interior designers. Through this research, designers gained further insights into upcoming design trends, use of materials, and finishes. With clear direction, the design team crafted a unique collection of decorative hardware that complements minimal design and is timeless.

Working in Three Unique Design Styles

Designers explored three-distinct design categories: Modern, Contemporary, and Nu-Modern. Design considerations and details also considered how light and shadows can be used to create depth and interest. Designers used SolidWorks to create the CAD geometry required for manufacturing.
