Smart, Cost-Effective Design

LiftMaster sought a premium design for a new garage door opener compatible with both 2 and 3 car garages, requiring an upscale aesthetic with cost-effective manufacturing. Our solution centered on a single, adaptable main frame with interchangeable parts to accommodate different circuit board configurations.

A clever tooling insert allowed the same frame to feature either two or three buttons, with a simple cover used for the 2 button version’s center space. This approach streamlined production, reduced costs, and simplified assembly. Designers collaborated closely with electrical engineers to optimize button placement and incorporated snap-fit details and living hinges to minimize additional parts and labor.

Maintaining a Timeless Brand Identity

Recognizing the long lifespan of garage door controllers, we prioritized a durable and timeless design. A simple gray and white palette ensures longevity, while concave buttons offer intuitive operation. Tactile buttons and gentle curves enhance usability.

The prominent placement of the LiftMaster logo reinforces brand recognition and trust. The result is a sleek and versatile garage controller that effectively balances premium design, functional efficiency, and manufacturing cost-effectiveness, upholding LiftMaster’s commitment to quality.
