Our client, Vinchay Labs, was an entrepreneur based company who had already begun the patent process around their idea for a fully customizable foam roller that would maximize a user’s workout by emphasizing balance, stamina and flexibility. They came to Beyond Design to help them create a prototype that would go beyond the limits of a traditional foam roller, combining elements to offer a user multiple ways of using the roller when it is pulled right out of the box. Through the development process, additional applications were discovered making the three options for the roller the best way to recover muscles after a workout.

Incorporating Vinchay’s Principle

Design research was an interesting portion of this project, considering we wanted to know how users would use the roller, along with what they were currently using. We immediately understood the concept of what Vinchay Labs wanted to accomplish, designing their vision of how the roller should give a user ultimate control over their workouts. Our team provided Vinchay Labs with a prototype to demonstrate new and fresh ideas they hadn’t thought of, which helped our team decipher the best solution, in order for a successful outcome. Our development team was able to combine form and function that provides a faster recovery and preventing muscle tension and soreness.

Vinchay™ Roller

The Vinchay™ Roller is a fully customizable foam roller that allows users to combine elements of a traditional foam roller with massage-ring technology for a medium or high intensity massage to loosen up muscles before a workout. The distinct easy to use hand control is convenient, along with removable end caps that can change up a massage in an instant. The corrugated core is perfect for heavy, repeated usage, giving users a chance to improve their flexibility and dynamic strength. Moreover, our team developed a way for users to reduce their soreness level to restore proper muscle tension.

Performance and Design

This simple and productive design is a strong entry into the fitness equipment category for those who consistently seek the need to relieve muscle tension after a workout. With just a preliminary idea at hand, we provided and fulfilled the vision of Vinchay Labs had for their roller. The current product will be used to guide those who are active and carried throughout their life to prevent any serious injury from occurring in the future.
