Talk-A-Phone, the industry’s leading designer and manufacturing company of security and safety communication provides products and solutions of consumers all around the world. They approached Beyond Design to help them design a more contemporary and aesthetically driven emergency phone that would be more sophisticated and higher quality than what was already on the market. The single IP Call Station serves as a convenient way to call for help in an emergency situation. It provides users with access and control when absolutely needed and relieves them of any unnecessary worry or fear.

Control the Communication

One of the most important things about the Talk-A-Phone is ensuring that users feel that the communication from the machine is reliable and intuitive. The user has the power to use the emergency call station for their purpose, no matter what age they are. A clean and simple interface with a back light was designed for easy to see access for the hearing impaired, along with stainless steel materials to endure all weather environments. In addition, self-diagnostic testing was programmed into the call station to monitor buttons, microphones and speakers to easily determine what the tech issue was if one arose. Furthermore, the call stations automatically inform an attendant of the location through a recorded message.

Perceptive. Universal. Standard.

When focusing on the industrial design of the call station, we took into consideration the aesthetic and usability aspects of the design. Our goal was to minimize the customizable look of the call station and concentrate on keeping it contemporary, keeping in mind value, durability and ease of use from the user. The logo on the Talk-A-Phone that we also designed incorporates a human symbol, that states items like these can be used wherever and by whoever all over the world, sharing one common purpose – safety and communication in dire need.

Designing for a Purpose

The VOIP-600 Series IP Call Stations have enabled Talk-A-Phone to gain an even better entry into the life safety communication market, by introducing their new call station. Since the idea of the Talk-A-Phone and their efforts to provide global initiative for security and relief to others, Talk-A-Phone has placed their call stations into educational institutions, mass transit, shopping malls, airports and municipalities to assure consumers they are safe no matter what their location is.
