Sunstar Americas, Inc. serves oral health care professionals and consumers around the world. They asked Beyond Design to help them design a new and easy way for consumers to keep their gums healthy for their Go-Betweens Cleaners Line with introducing multiple sizes and heads to appeal to customers. Our team had to stay true to the GUM image, as well as gain insight into what the end user wants and need are in an oral care product application.

Understanding Oral Health Care

We conducted online research and interviews with users, who all made a solid effort to take care of their teeth and gums and asked what products they used, their daily rituals and methods of oral hygiene and cleaning.

Designing Comforability and Precision

Our goal was to create an interdental brush that can easily bend, especially around the neck and handle areas, to reach hard places in the back of the mouth to remove residue that toothbrushes and mouthwash could not reach. The ventilated cap works as an extension of the handle to keep the brush clean while on-the-go and can easily fit in purses or pockets, along with car or office spaces. The Proxabrush Go-Betweens Cleaners provide a safe way to clean around natural teeth, along with dental implants, crowns, bridges and other dental appliances. The brush head, with triangular bristles remove more plaque than other conventional round bristles.

Use of Color and Size

Four sizes of brush heads are available to fit all mouths, starting from the tightest to the widest between teeth and are color coded per brush head. Users can choose between tight, ultra tight, moderate and wide. One thing that we love about the packaging of the product are the colors that differentiate the size of the brush head. When a consumer is walking down through the oral health care aisle, the distinct four colors stand out immediately. The brightness and variety can make the consumer want to try the product. Appearance and aesthetics prove to be one of the factors when purchasing a product, regardless of what it is. It is recommended that teeth are cleaned once per day using the Proxabrush Go-Betweens Cleaners to remove dental plaque and other particles to keep teeth clean and healthy.
