What’s Happening This Spring @ BD

April 16, 2019

Happy Spring! Although here in Chicago we had a small bout of snow this weekend…we are excited for what’s to come as the city begins to thaw out (again) and bloom.

One of our first big events of the season will be on May 9th for a panel event dedicated to the dos and don’ts of how to bring an idea from conception to market. We’ve invited the best in marketing, sales, and design to lead the panel and give their expertise and advice on how to be successful. Please join us Thursday, May 9th at 6 PM at the Beyond studio for drinks and discussion. Stay tuned for an introduction to the panelists on Friday.

What’s In The Works
Ravenswood Towers to Become Landmark – The Towers have been a labor of love and we’re excited to see them break ground this month! Beyond lead the overall design and we’ve been working on the project since 2016. Their official unveiling date will be announced at the end of May and we are excited to be a part of this community accomplishment.

Chicago Women in Design – April 25: Next week join Women In Industrial Design (WIID) as they host their second “That’s What She Said” event. The ongoing series focuses on different female voices in the community. On Wednesday, 4/25, Industrial Design historian and IHA Design Programs Coordinator, Vicki Matranga, will discuss the history of Chicago women in design from 1930 – 1970. Register for the event here.

U Of I Senior Show – April 26: University Of Illinois Industrial Design Senior Show will take place at our studio next week. Come by for light food + drinks to celebrate the class of 2019 and their industrial design projects from 7 PM – 9 PM. The afterparty will take place on the other Ravenswood at Dovetail Brewery. Please RSVP to IDshowrsvp@gmail.com.

Bike the Drive with CR8 – May 26: Join us at the MB Financial Bike the Drive next month! Our team will take part in the annual cycling event and introduce our CR8 Kickstarter project to the 21,000 other riders. With the official launch on Memorial Day weekend, Bike the Drive is the perfect place to debut the bike accessory.

Next Up: If you were lucky enough to attend one of our Sofar Sounds shows last year, make sure you keep an eye out for Ravenswood gigs popping up this June…

Last summer we hosted local artists like Dream Chief from Indianapolis (who’s music serves as the “soundtrack” to our CR8 intro), The Winchesters from Chicago, Grammy-award winner Grace Weber (below), and Lolla’ artists Morgan Saint and Femdot. For more information on upcoming shows, please visit the Sofar line up here and we’ll see you in the courtyard soon.
