Vizio Challenges Sonos with their Double Duty Speakers

September 13, 2016

Vizio is recognizing Sonos and their shortcomings to see them as an opportunity to design the first standalone speakers designed for wireless multi-room audio. Like any of their new TV’s, they offer Google Cast – users can control it with their mobile device, but the speakers form their own connection to stream certain services.

When at home, there is a plug-in charging base that allows the speakers to be charged up to 8 hours. To back up the Crave 360, the Crave Pro is a fixed, plug-in speaker that has an available ethernet port – just no built in batteries or strap to carry it around.

While both the Crave Pro and Crave 360 work seamlessly with the VIZIO SmartCast app, if consumers want to manually control their speaker from nearby, both products feature a glass touch dial that allows users to tap to play, swipe to skip and twist to increase or decrease volume levels.
