The Inspired Home Show 2023
Last month, the Beyond Design team checked out the Inspired Home Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. The event showcases a wide range of home and housewares products, attended by retailers, buyers, and suppliers from all over the world. Attendees see the latest trends, innovations and designs in the home and housewares industry. Beyond Design saw some awesome products, engaged with other industry experts, and even got to see their own work displayed.
The Beyond Design Team’s Spin on West Bend Products
West Bend is a well-known brand that offers a variety of popcorn makers as well as other kitchen appliances. The Theater Crazy machine is designed with several features that make it easy to use and product delicious popcorn. A few include a stirring rod to ensure an even pop, a non-stick kettle which is easy for cleaning, a warming deck to keep your popcorn warm, and a kernel catcher to collect un-popped kernels.
The BD team upgraded the aesthetic and outer design, incorporating more use of metal to simplify and modernize the look, providing a higher-end feel to the product. The updated classic red top, retro-style “POPCORN” and playful popcorn graphics recreate the experience of going to the movies, at home.
A Modern Twist on Retro
West Bend offers kitchen appliances beyond popcorn makers, and the goal of the product redesigns by the Beyond Design team was to streamline the design across all products. Their Retro-Style blender is designed with multiple speeds to allow for versatile blending for smoothies, soups, sauces and more. They are not only visually appealing, but the ease of use and durability is what puts this West Bend blender on top. Beyond Design went to work on modernizing the design in taking away the charm of the retro design and color pallet.
The addition of the metallic features speaks to the continuity across West Bend’s appliance offerings, as it is also incorporated in the updated popcorn maker designs. Not only does the Retro-Style blender make blending tasks more efficient and convenient, but the BD team developed an updated design to cater to an even broader audience, mixing modern features with popular retro aesthetics.
The Optimal Cooking Environment for Pizza at Home
Gozney is a brand that produces a range of outdoor pizza ovens that are designed to bring the experience of cooking restaurant-quality pizza to your backyard. We checked out their booth this year, and all left wanting one for ourselves. They’re known for their high-quality materials and advanced features, such as insulated chambers, temperature controls, and custom-designed burners.
The design of the Gozney pizza ovens is focused on creating the optimal cooking environment for making pizzas, while boasting a modern and stylish aesthetic, available in a variety of colors and styles to match your backyard decor. Beyond Design Makes America’s Best Dehydrator Better
The Beyond Design team worked on America’s best food dehydrators by Excalibur. Using patented air flow technology, these products distribute air evenly, drying food faster and more consistently. This technology allows for the use to make healthy snacks and to avoid wasting food that can go bad.
The BD team raised the bar even higher, with a sleek and efficient design, featuring a new branding style where the logo sits elegantly on the tempered glass doors or on the side of the product. The magnetic-close doors and easy-view window on top of the 10 Tray Performance Series dehydrator make monitoring the drying process easy and fun.
Cooking Rice in Style
Cuckoo is a South Korean brand that is renowned for its range of rice cookers, which feature various technologies to ensure perfect rice every time. The Beyond Design team checked out the Cuckoo booth and was impressed with the sleek and modern design of their newest rice cooker.
Featuring a smooth matte exterior with a touch pad for multi-cooking functions, and metallic accents, this rice cooker adds to the aesthetics of a kitchen. Cuckoo rice cookers are designed to be both functional and stylish, with sleek and modern designs that blend seamlessly into any kitchen decor. They also come in a range of colors and sizes to suit different households and cooking needs. Coway Airmega is a brand of air purifiers produced by the South Korean company, Coway. Beyond Design checked out their booth at the show this year, and the team’s attention was brought to the new purifiers on display. The design of the Airmega is focused on both form and function, with several features that set them apart from the other air purifiers on the market.
They have a sleek and modern design that is aesthetically pleasing and fit seamlessly into modern home decor. They feature sleek lines, minimalist controls, and a variety of color options to match any room. The Coway Airmega line of purifiers is energy efficient, designed with low power consumption and automatic shut-off features to conserve energy when the unit is not in use. The team checked out the Kor Water booth, a brand that is committed to sustainability and reducing waste that makes bottles designed to be reusable and long-lasting. They are made from BPA-free materials like Tritan, stainless steel, and silicone, and the BD team loved that some of the bottles included a hydration tracker.
