Row Your Boat
Just last week, Beyond Design was the sponsor for wine at Rowtoberfest, right near Lane Tech High School. The Chicago Rowing Foundation and the Chicago Park District hosted the first annual ROWtoberfest head race and fall festival – what a great weekend for it.
The 4K head race from the Cortland Bridge to the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park is open to high school, collegiate and master rowers. Exhibition middle school races were held, along with high schoolers, collegiate, and masters participants. What was awesome about the event was that there was electronic timing provided for the up-to-the-minute results.
A viewing lounge and Biergarten provided those who wanted to relax and enjoy the surroundings, while cheering on those who row-row-row’d their boat.
The Chicago Rowing Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was founded to make sweep rowing accessible and available for students throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. CRF has an amazing ranked high school, middle school and recreational program for adults. It’s a great activity to stay in shape and enjoy Chicago in their Spring and Fall months. The foundation believes in a group person approach to the sport, promoting a healthier lifestyle and gaining a confidence in strength and focus.
