Nikon Reveals Its First Mirrorless Camera

September 22, 2011

Nikon finally introduced its first mirrorless single-lens reflex (SLR) camera this week! The release shows how the company is trying to catch up in this market after seeing what rivals such as Sony and Olympus have achieved. While Sony, Panasonic, and Olympus have already released their versions, Nikon was one step ahead of their other main rival, Canon, in releasing the small, interchangeable-lens cameras.

Mirrorless cameras have a lot of the same features as the bulkier cameras, except that they come in convenient smaller units, which travelers and light packers prefer. They are especially popular in Japan where consumers prefer easily portable products. Our photographers here at Beyond Design are excited to try this new camera out!
