Improving Design Skills Through a Summer Internship at Beyond Design

August 28, 2013

As part of our summer internship program, our interns have the opportunity to learn and work directly with our designers and engineers. This summer, each of our interns was assigned a mentor who they could go to with any questions or advice. They took part in weekly workshops where they learned about sketching and rendering techniques, presentation layouts, and developed and/or improved their skills in SolidWorks.

Justin (Ohio State), Helen (Champaign), Jillian (UIC), and Chloe (Purdue)

Each week they documented what it was they learned the week prior and developed a board with all of their notecards.

Each week, the interns will document what it was they learned the week before on notecards.

At the end of the internship, we like to find out what it is they liked, disliked, what they improved on most, and what advice they would give to others who are looking for an internship. Some comments from the interns are below. Thanks so much to Chloe, Max, Justin, Helen, and Jillian for such a great summer! We wish you all the best as you finish school and start thinking about your career path!

You can read a little background info about each student in our past blog post here.
