IHA Student Competition

February 9, 2018

We’re about one month out from the annual International Home and Housewares Show! This year we were graciously invited to judge the prestigious 25th annual student design competition. Each year students submit projects that encapsulate market research, design thinking, exploratory research, and tested prototypes. A team of designers, professors, industry veterans, and past winners review the entries over the course of 2 days and decide on the winners. This year our own industrial designer, Carter Gerard, was invited to be one of those judges. She spent time with veteran and new judges alike. Michael Prince previously judged in 1999, 2000, and 2009. Current Beyond industrial designer, Thomas Richardson (page 5), was a past winner of the competition in 2016 for his Aurora Air Purifier design.

We can’t disclose who the judges ended up choosing until closer to the actual show on March 10th. We can share some photos from the judging panel, below. We hope to see you at this years IHHA Show in Chicago! Say hi if you see our team at McCormick Place.

The 2018 IHA judges know who the winners are while the rest of us will wait until the show in March!
