Beyond Hosts GCE Student Tour

GCE Students Learn What It Takes To Be A Designer

October 10, 2017

Global Citizenship Experience Lab School (GCE) came to visit the Beyond studio last week for an in depth tour of what it means to be a designer at our firm and in Chicago. Owner and Founder, Michael Prince, lead the tour for the GCE juniors and showed them our studio, 3D printing lab, and hosted a collaborative Q & A session giving a well rounded review of the business.  From building the company from the ground up and creating a nimble team, to fostering relationships with a diverse collection of clients, Michael gave the students the real story of behind Beyond and how to make it as a designer.

Michael answers GCE student questions and tells the Beyond story.

GCE is the prestigious private school located in Lincoln Park that offers their students the unique high school experience of direct involvement with the community and surrounding work force. Their studies focus on integrating science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Visiting over 200 “real world” companies, like Beyond Design, gives the students the opportunity to collaborate in new environments and glean exactly what it means to be a designer, among other professions, post high school and college. Because of this non traditional approach to education, 100% of GCE’s graduates have gained admission to top tier universities and 80% of these students have earned merit-based scholarships. The original graduating class of GCE had 39 of their first graduates earning more than $3.6 million in merit aid.

The tour of the studio includes a look at the 3D Printing lab.

Michael engages with students in the studio.

If you are a student or educator and would like a tour of Beyond Design please drop us a note at info@beyonddesignchicago.com We love engaging with new designers and welcome the opportunity to entertain students!
