Celebrating World Industrial Design Day

June 29, 2012

Today marks the 5th anniversary of World Industrial Design Day, which was created in 2007 on The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design’s (Icsid) 50th anniversary. Icsid sent out a global call to ask one simple question – What is industrial design?

Since its inception Icsid has been an organization that connects people from diverse backgrounds who all have a passion for industrial design. Today is a day for the design community to share ideas, spread knowledge, and celebrate their profession.

The video below defines what industrial design is in a little over a minute. It was a challenge proposed from Icsid to design professionals and students to define industrial design in 10 seconds or less. You can read more about the history of World Industrial Design Day here.
