Celebrating 80 Years of LEGO History!

August 15, 2012

Have you ever been to a LEGOLAND® or visited a LEGO store to see the amazing things that are built out of LEGOs? Such as dinosaurs, Disney characters, super heroes, architecture, and so many other attractions. 2012 marks the 80th anniversary of the Danish company, which began by making high-quality wooden toys and transformed into a system for toys that allows the user to strengthen their imagination and creativity. The company has moved from the originally small workshop back in 1932 to become the third largest producer of play materials in the world.

The name LEGO comes from two Danish words, “leg” and “godt”, which translates to “play well.” In honor of this anniversary, LEGO has released an animated video that tells the remarkable story of how the company came to be. The video is really great helps us see why the brand is what it is today.

One of our past designer’s is a huge LEGO enthusiast and says, “I wished, wish, and will wish to retire with ALL of the Lego sets and to spend the rest of my life building all of them one set at a time.”

You can view the video below and read more on the story here.
