First Look at CES 2014

January 9, 2014

CES is in full swing and a few members of our team were lucky enough to get out of the freezing Chicago weather and attend the show in Las Vegas. So far, some pretty cool new products have been spotted. A few of these are noted below.

Netatmo June Wellness Bracelet
The June bracelet, from Netatmo, is a digital pendant that measures the sun’s impact. The jewel on the wristband syncs with an iOS device and alerts users when the skin has had too much sun exposure.

EyeLock myris Iris Scanner
It’s a simple, beautiful gadget that takes a one-second (or so) video of your eyeball, has you log in to your various accounts, and then automatically signs you in, without you ever having to type in your password. Imagine never having to remember another password!

Audi Sport Quattro Laserlight
Cars are bigger this year than in the past. The headlights on the Audi Sport Quattro Laserlight concept car are lasers. While your typical high beams reach 820 feet, these can reach double that: 1,640 feet. Audi says they also have three times the luminosity. That translates to higher visibility and, therefore, safer driving.

Samsung Curved TV
There are a lot of curved televisions at the show, but this one is just a little different. Samsung’s TV goes from flat to curved at the click of a remote. Very cool.

Pebble Steel Smartwatch
The Kickstarter success has a major upgrade this year with the Pebble Steel. The functionality of the watch stays the same, but makes you seem just a little more “high-class” with its metallic new look.
