Breaking2 Propelling Runners

March 8, 2017

Zoom VaporFly Elite, the new concept shoe from Nike, is part of their mission to break the 2 hour world marathon time. Professional marathoners are expected to shave minutes off their time with Nike’s advanced running shoe.
Feeling the pressure from an increase in competitor “athleisure” wear, Nike released their Breaking2 runner shoe early yesterday morning. With such a daring and bold objective, they are reclaiming their stake in the sports apparel industry after a rough drop in shares and an overall downgrade in company stock this past year.

Light and responsive, the Breaking2 Zoom VaporFly Elite has a curved heel with a 22mm “forefoot stack height.” Traditionally, running shoes have been low to the ground and uber lightweight. This new take incorporates a carbon fiber plate that will ease the strain that long distance causes on the runner by creating much more of a cushion.

To create the best results, Nike assembled a top notch team. The Breaking2 team consists of elite engineers, innovative coaches, sports psychologists, and the top three dominant runners in the world. Lelisa Desisa, Eliud Kipchoge, and Zersenay Tadese are the first runners that will try and break the 2 hour record using Nike’s new footwear. Yesterday the trio tested the shoe by running a half marathon in Monza, Italy. They finished in just under an hour, a good sign for the full push later this spring.

The shoes, which come in the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% style and the Nike Zoom Fly will be available for consumer purchase of $250 and $150 respectfully when officially released.
