Beyond Design Joins mHUB Family as Founder

Beyond Design Founding Member of MHub

August 11, 2017

Starting next month Beyond Design will kick off the fall season by joining the mHUB community as founding members! We will periodically send some of our Ravenswood designers to the Loop to work within the buzzing confines of the shared workspace. The non profit incubator opened their doors in early March and has amassed over 100 members. Unlike incubators like 1871, mHUB is unique in that it has the tools and equipment for manufacturers to develop actual products and an environment to network with other developers in the industry.

“The Ms are purposefully ambiguous and represent many things related to our dynamic ecosystem. Think: Manufacture. Make. Machines. Markets. Mentor. Midwest. Members. Momentum.” – The “m’ in MHUB.

Previously home to Motorola Mobility, mHUB houses over $2.5 million worth of manufacturing equipment. The warehouse encompasses 63,000 square feet of space that are filled with labs, workshops, conference rooms, offices, and bar area. The facilities have 3-D printing capabilities, electronic, metal and plastic fabrication, as well as rapid prototyping.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel ceremoniously “cut” (using a power tool) the “ribbon” (metal) earlier this year to kick off the launch of mHUB which is also joint effort of the World Business Chicago. The two partnered together to push Chicagoland manufacturing in hopes to drive more business and innovation in that sector.

Beyond Design is excited to start our Founders membership in September and look forward to working among other designers, entrepreneurs, and engineers! Check back for periodic updates on our time at mHUB and events we will be hosting and attending and follow us on Instagram for more pictures.
