Beyond Design Presents at NCSU College of Design

September 6, 2017

Founder and President of Beyond Design, Michael Prince, flew down to Raleigh, North Carolina to present at NC State University’s Industrial Design Common Studio Hour. The College of Design periodically hosts open forums followed by Q + A sessions with professionals in the Industrial Design field for their students. Our Summer intern Pratik Bendale just returned to the university after spending four months learning and working at our Ravenswood Studio!

Michael speaks to a room of design students about the Beyond business and culture.

Michael presented on the history of Beyond Design, his own experiences as a design student, the road he took post graduation, and how the company has evolved since it’s inception in the early 1990’s from a one man start up to as it stands today as a nimble team of fifteen. It was a great opportunity to engage with students on the East Coast and give insightful and helpful feedback to the next generation of designers.

Starting as an architecture program in 1946, North Carolina State’s College of Design has evolved over the past several decades to what it is today, encompassing all facets of design from the undergrad level to master’s programs. NCSU is located “in the heart of RTP (Research Triangle Park)” where students are at the hub of innovation and design. RTP has over 50 thousand design focused workers and 250 buzzing businesses. It was a great university and city to visit and we hope to be invited back again! For more information on their education program please visit their website, check out their blog, and drop us a note if you saw Michael on campus!
