An Affordable Sit-to-Stand Desk
In 2011, we wrote about the new trend of standing desks. Yesterday, a Kickstarter campaign launched for the most affordable “automatic” sit-to-stand desk (meaning it can be used sitting or standing and adjusts at the press of a button). Stand Desk addresses the cost issue with many standing desks today – it starts at just $400. Stand Desk reached its Kickstarter goal of $50,000 in just 38 minutes and still has 43 days to go.
Steven Yu came up with the idea after a motorcycle accident left him needing to sit less. He grew up working on cars and when he saw how expensive most standing desks on the market were, he wanted to make an affordable option. Stand Desk takes a step in the right direction in terms of making standing desks more affordable, which could drive widespread social acceptance.
