Adobe Puts a Stop to Flash for Mobiles: Good News for Apple users!
Adobe Systems announced that it will stop developing its Flash Player for mobile browsers. Good news for us, as we will now have improved browsing experiences on our iPhone’s and iPad’s!
Adobe says they will focus on the HTML5 web standard, which is universally supported on major mobile devices.
“This makes HTML5 the best solution for creating and deploying content in the browser across mobile platforms. Apple has never been a fan of Flash, and has never integrated the platform in its products. In 2010, Steve Jobs wrote that “Flash was created during the PC era—for PCs and mice.”
With this news, it means that web developers will most likely have to move to HTML5 to produce their web content—if they haven’t already. What’s unclear is what this means for Flash’s long term success. Only time will tell, but, for now, we’re just glad to see Flash eliminated from mobile devices. For more on this story, click here.
