3D Print Challenge at the IDSA International Conference

August 14, 2013

As part of IDSA’s International Conference next week, a 3D print challenge will take place on Saturday, August 24th, at 12pm. The challenge was to develop a 3D printed car using unique attributes of 3D printing and great aesthetics (beauty/fun/thematic). The cars will be judged on the best flight (distance/style), most spectacular crash, and best aesthetics.

We entered four designs and just found out that one of them has made it to the top 10! We printed several of each design in order to test the functionality of the car. All four designs are shown below.

The launches will be videotaped for online viewing, including a slow-motion camera directed at the crash site. If you’re going to be at the conference in Chicago, make sure to stop by and check it out (and find out which of our cars was picked)!
