When Swingline wanted to create a portable stapler for traveling professionals, they turned to the Beyond Design team to make it happen. Portable staplers already existed, but this one needed to do more. It had to work reliably, look cool, and be so convenient that users would want to carry it around.

We started by building on the functionality of Swingline’s proven desktop stapler mechanisms. This ensured the compact version would still get the job done, even on the toughest pages. We even included a built-in stapler remover for extra convenience. From there, we focused on the look and feel, giving the stapler a contoured shape and a spray metallic finish that made it practical and eye-catching. The color options were timeless, so they could be updated over time and stay fashionably relevant.
