The Ultimate Entertainment Serving Tray

Beyond Design partnered with Pampered Chef to design a portable food tray with a unique selling point. The goal was to create a versatile and convenient serving platter that kept food cool for hours. The Large Square Cool & Serve Tray makes any party or gathering cooler.

The tray’s 12×12-inch shape is made from durable, clear polycarbonate and sits above a vibrant green base filled with coolant gel. This gel helps keep food fresh for up to six hours after being chilled. The tray includes two reversible white cooling inserts: one flat side for general use and another with 12 wells made specifically for holding deviled eggs. This addresses various serving needs in one complete package.

A Fresh Take on Food Preservation

Designers prioritized flexibility in the product’s design. A modular system was developed through careful engineering and prototyping to adapt to different serving needs. The clear inner trays have three separate wells to keep foods from mixing, while the clear lid snaps onto the base for secure transport and easy storage. The lid also nests neatly under the base during serving. Plus, it’s dishwasher-safe, making cleanup quick and easy.

This comprehensive design project had designers involved at every stage of the process. From initial sketches to model development, final renderings, and Design For Manufacturing (DFM). The result is a stylish, adaptable serving tray that’s a lifesaver for any host.
