Shine Brighter and Stand Out

We designed a line of sleek, chrome-accented Xenon flashlights for Rayovac, combining cutting-edge brightness with a striking aesthetic.

Rayovac had a new line of handheld flashlights that incorporated xenon bulb technology. These bulbs were brighter and more powerful than the older models, but they needed a design that reflected this innovation, and Beyond Design lit up the way.

Since these flashlights were aimed at major retailers, the design had to have a gravitating shelf presence to allure consumers. We developed a unique look that made the flashlights appear bright and modern before even turning them on. This led to designers using chrome-plated accents and a signature ring near the bulb to make the product line visually distinct. The chrome emphasized the innovative xenon technology and gave the flashlights a premium, futuristic feel. This became the defining design language for the entire line, helping them stand out in the crowded mass-market segment.

We paid close attention to ergonomics, crafting comfortable grips with easy-to-access buttons for all users, including those wearing gloves. The product line included different sizes and high-end features, from handheld models to a wearable headlight for hands-free operation, as well as a wearable headlight. These features were balanced with cost-effective manufacturing to make the Xenon flashlight line practical and attractive for consumers.
