Designing for a Maserati

Maserati Oil Cap

If you’re an avid car fan (and in Chicago), you may have heard of Joe Hayes and his extensive collection of 30 cars and two motorcycles in the Ravenswood Event Center. His collection consists of American and European sportscars from the ’50s-’70s, including a 1957 Mercedes Roadster, a 1955 Mercedes Gullwing, and a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series 1 which he bought from actor Nicolas Cage. Every one of his cars is in working condition and he is known to switch up cars often when driving around the city.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Joe on a new oil cap for his Maserati. The part had to reflect the authenticity of the car and include extreme detail. The project involved initial design considerations and CAD development. You can check out the final piece below (as well as some cars from Joe’s collection).
