A Summer in the Real World
We are excited to welcome a few new interns to our design team! Our internship program offers young designers the opportunity to learn in a professional environment. We’ve had interns from all over the world—including England, Sweden, France, Italy, Turkey, and cities across the United States. Our goal is to help improve their skills and better prepare each student to meet the expectations they will encounter upon graduation.
Stephane is from France and has been interning with us since February of this year. He is in the process of finishing his second Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Design at The University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard. His first Master’s Degree was in Human Factors Engineering from The University of Paris XI.
“The culture in the States is a lot different than in France, and I like observing these differences and trying to understand where they come from. Designing in Chicago has been a great opportunity for me and I’ve learned a great deal since moving here.”
Jae is currently studying at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and is in fourth year in the undergraduate Designed Objects program.
“A Bic pen and a paper is my playground; I might not end up making the best sandcastle in town, but I never fail to have fun. I am interested in everything from a chair to a jumbo jet, and inspired by environment, nature, and people’s spoiled behaviors (including mine).”
Alisa just finished her sophomore year at the University of Notre Dame, working towards a degree in Industrial Design.
“Design allows me to be creative while truly making a difference in peoples’ lives, and I love that!”
Andrew is an Industrial Design student at The Ohio State University and will be entering his senior year in the fall of 2011.
“I am pursuing a degree in industrial design because I am fascinated with products. I enjoy the challenges that arise in product design and collaborating with designers and engineers to create forward-thinking solutions. Not a day goes by without learning something new.”
Cindy is a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is working toward an MFA in Art and Technology. She will be working closely this summer with our animation team.
“I love creating and playing with things in 3D. That’s why I chose to study 3D in the Art & Technology department at SAIC. There are endless possibilities without restrictions in the real world. Want to make a porcupine school bus? No problem! Want to see an impossibly twisty, derelict tower perched at an angle on the edge of a cliff? Sure thing! There are numerous applications for 3D visualizations and animation – I just love doing this stuff.”
