A Greener Ravenswood 2015 at Beyond Design
A Greener Ravenswood, conceived by the RCC (Ravenswood Community Council), works to establish a network of information and resources focused on local green practices and sustainability. Each year they hold an event to educate the community on sustainable practices that can be used by residential or commercial properties.
This year’s event was held at our studio on June 25th and featured a collection of local and sustainable vendors. Guests had the opportunity to shop green foods from local vendors and enjoy delicious bites from local businesses such as Lucila’s Homemade and Dolce Casa Café. There were also great drinks from Tiztal Cafe and Begyle Brewing. Not only were drinks and delicious bites available, but Noktivo Non-Toxic Spa gave away complimentary green manicures.
In addition, there were informative product demos and mini clinics from TURIN Bicycle and Brew Camp.
It was a beautiful evening and a great turnout. All proceeds from the event benefit beautification and environmental education projects in the Greater Ravenswood area, including McPherson and St. Matthias elementary schools.
Today, A Greener Ravenswood intends to establish a comprehensive network of information and resources focusing on advocacy and education, with the following priorities:
• Build awareness at our local schools and model green consumer practices
• Highlight the achievements of local businesses and residents in sustainable living
• Support community gardens, parks, and open space planning
